Today is August 28! What does that mean? *Gasps*

It means that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 will be shipping out and sold in stores today!
To all who own a PSP, I highly recommend you go out and pick this title up, even if you're not a familiar with the Monster Hunter series.

The gameplay is almost unlike any other game you have! Where most games have "stats" and "levels" or even "better weapons" to improve yourself, the Monster Hunter series pays little to no attention to this.

True, you set off as an upcoming hunter and rise above the ranks, so do the monsters in which you fight, to the point where even the strongest equipment will fall to dust beneath the opposition! In other words, this is a game of true skill! Having good items won't save you if you don't have any knowledge of a monster's behaviors and habits!

What's interesting about these games is the creation system! The weapons and armor you have is COMPLETELY dependent upon your skill as a hunter and what you are capable of killing. Slay a monster and create a weapon from its bones! Make armor from its hide! There are so many possible combinations it's insane!

There are many other things you can do in the game too! If you're hungry you naturally eat! You can't fight on an empty stomach, so cook up a quick steak on field or eat at home with your crazy cat kitchen. Who wouldn't want cats to cook for you?

The best feature of Monster Hunter is the playstyle variety! There are even more weapon styles in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 then any previous Monster Hunter game.
You can choose from using a simple short sword, to a mighty blade that you can barely even swing! You can even use two swords at once if you wanted! There are other options too! Why not bash a a wyvern in the face with a massive hammer? Or pierce through multiple enemies with a lance? There are even long range weapons to suit those who prefer long range combat in the form of guns and even bows.

You can play by yourself or play with many friends. Hunting in a party is always a great way to provide support for a particularly difficult monster. You can even play online* and interact with the great and plentiful people of the Monster Hunter community!

There is a massive variety of weapons and armor for you to design your character with, but be warned as this is no game for quitters. It requires hard work and great dedication to become a a powerful Monster Hunter!

Don't forget to hug the lovable chicken wyvern!

)= Or else you'll make poor kut ku sad!!!

I hope that you'll take a good thought or two about this game. It is truly something beyond your average gaming experience. Expect to see me playing online lots! I'm always ready on hand to help newcomers start out and deal with the tougher quests.

If you have further questions feel free to ask or send a PM. Please, no spamming of this topic. Thankies yous.

* Playing online requires an account at the Xlink Kai forums, along with the program "Xlink Kai" and the "ZDNet "driver, along with a Wifi Max for the PSP. Instructions to play online are located in the Monster Hunter Freedom section of the Xlink forums.

Holy ad campaign Batman! >.>;;

Anyways, I argue this game will have gameplay much like other games I have played. It will play like Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter Freedom, and maybe even Monster Hunter Frontier.

I'm getting my copy tomorrow, I already have my poogie for reserving a copy.

Great Sword has been pimped out in this version. ^-^

I'm gonna pick this up today, if any GameStops nearby have it. o:

Edit: Btw, here's a much more reliable (IMO) guide to getting online with MHF/2:

The 28th is a shipping day. Most gamestops will have it in at about noon tomorrow.

Anyone up for a hunt tomorrow?

Gonna transfer my MHF data over to MHF2. Then I'm gonna focus on *stuffs* from there to get even further ahead earlier.

Wait, so for MH Freedom 2 you can transfer you stats over from the first one?

Cuz I want both for the PsP but If the second one is out I might as well get that one, but if you can transfer your stats over I'll get both.

You can transfer *some* stuff.

100% of your money.
Any item rarity 1-3.
Items with rarity 4+ are sold for 10% (?) of their value.
Equiptment is rewarded in the form of tickets.

Actually, only a *small* portion of your money. Otherwise I'd have over 30 million zenny. I only have 80 thousand...barely....

Tickets are sweet, but don't waste them early on though tempting. I am saving mine so I can get my full Silver Sol and Fatalis armor back. Not to mention all my Fatalis equipment....which was everything possible you can make form him <<;;

>: And my collection of Lances.....oh how I miss thee.

On another note: Dual Swords still suck lol

Well, I transfered my file twice, the first time I did a normal transfer and got around 4K, I had 3K before the transfer on MHF. I did another transfer after selling everything I'd lose anyways and got 90K before transfer, and then after transfer I still had 90K.

I only got 15 normal tickets, and theres nothing I can really waste them on. I don't feel worried about wasting them anyways.

Oh, and LunarEdge, MHF is a HUGE game. You will spend 100+ hours on it and not even get to guild rank 2. The data transfer is nifty if you have and played MHF, but if you're just getting into it stick to MHF2.

EDIT: Scratch that, that 90K turned out to be 9K. You keep 10% of your money after transfer.

My money went from 9000z to 70000z. Probably from all the rare equipment money I got. Mwahaha.

I'm trying to be conservative with my tickets as well. Can't just go spend them all at once, you know?

Friends and I have exchanged guilds cards already. We're working together and not surpassing one another in terms of quest and rank. It's easier this way. For now I'm working on improving my lances and gunlances. Working on making Hermataur armor atm.

And yes, I would very much love to work for an advertising company =)
I am very good with the art of the silver tongue.

Sorry for reviving this topic....but I need some help...

Well, I use to play Monster Hunter for the Ps2 (I still do actually) and I just got MH Freedom 2 for the Psp and I have a few questions.

1. How do I officially get online? Every time I go online, I seem to not run into anyone else and so far only me and my friend have played. It seems like I'm running on Ad-Hoc wifi connection and not the infracture one...i'm not sure...

Edit:....Nvm...just learned there is no "official" online play. I don't feel like putting up with all that Wifi-max crap either...

To officially get online go to any T Mobile Wifi Hot Spot.

However having setup wifi from my MHF days, I just keep using that =/
